Motherwell Station redevelopment plans welcomed

Published 18 March 2020 by Transform Scotland

We’re pleased to see the announcement of the plans for the redevelopment of Motherwell Station.

Transform Scotland rail spokesperson Paul Tetlaw said:

“The £14.5m investment in Motherwell Station is very welcome as is the plan for more Anglo-Scottish trains to call there.

“There is significant potential for rail to capture more of the Anglo-Scottish traffic from both the car and the plane and that will clearly help to reduce harmful climate emissions.

“Motherwell is well sited to the south of Glasgow and so will be attractive to those who do not want to travel into the centre of Glasgow to join a train. The station upgrade will be an important element in attracting more passengers to rail.

“We’ve called for these measures to be adopted in a number of responses to government consultations so naturally we do indeed welcome them.”
