Transform Platform for the Scottish Parliament
In the run-up to the Scottish Parliament elections in May 2016, we are hosting a series of election events providing our members and the wider transport sector with the opportunity to engage with representatives of the main political parties in Scotland. These ‘Transport Platform’ events feature transport representatives from each of Scotland’s main parties, who will outline their party’s vision for sustainable transport should they be elected.
Our first event, Transform Platform for Labour, took place on 28 January at Edinburgh City Chambers. Labour transport spokesperson David Stewart MSP outlined Labour’s vision for the future of Scottish transport as part of a successful evening of debate. The event was hosted by Cllr Andrew Burns, Leader of The City of Edinburgh Council.
On 23 February, the second event in our election series, held at The University of Edinburgh, Transform Platform for the Liberal Democrats, saw Liam McArthur MSP outline the Liberal Democrats’ proposals for the Scottish transport sector.
On 9 March, Transform Platform for the Greens saw Patrick Harvie MSP, Co-Convener of the Scottish Green Party set out the Scottish Greens’ plans. The event was held at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
Transform Platform for the Conservatives took place on Monday 4 April. Alex Johnstone MSP, transport spokesperson for the Scottish Conservatives. The event was held at Thorn House, 5 Rose Street. To read the summary of the event, please click here.
