Aberdeenshire Council — Town Centres Parking SurveyDeadline 31 October 2017
Aberdeenshire Council are consulting on whether to take responsibility from Police Scotland for on-street parking.
Aberdeenshire Council is currently responsible for the operation of public car parks in towns and villages across Aberdeenshire, while ‘On-Street’ parking enforcement remains the responsibility of Police Scotland.
The council is currently investigating whether to apply to decriminalise ‘On-Street’ Parking as a measure that could help to improve the management and vitality of town centres. This means that the Council will have employees managing town centre parking on the streets, in a way similar to the role previously undertaken by Traffic Wardens, who were employed by the Police (up until February 2014). Police Scotland still currently retain the responsibility but have limited resources to undertake parking enforcement activity.
The Council are seeking views from the public and businesses on this proposal.
Both surveys are open until 31 October.
