Welcome for average speed cameras on the A90

Published 29 March 2017 by Colin Howden

Commenting on the Scottish Government transport minister Humza Yousaf MSP’s announcement that average speed cameras will be installed on the A90 between Dundee and Stonehaven, Transform Scotland’s rail campaigner Paul Tetlaw commented:

“All measures to improve road safety are to be welcomed – all road users benefit whether they are in a private car, a commercial vehicle, a bus or on a bike. We therefore welcome the latest move to extend the use of average speed cameras to the A90. It is high time that the ‘Clarkson’ culture of willfully ignoring speed limits on the road was halted. Road users should remember that they are controlling a potentially lethal piece of equipment and treat the use of their vehicle with same respect for the rules as would an airline pilot or train driver.”
