Levenmouth top rail reopening priority for ScotlandPublished 11 November 2015 by Colin Howden
Transform Scotland are very happy to publish the presentation made by Allen Armstrong, secretary of Levenmouth Rail Campaign (LMRC), to our Members’ Session held on 6 November.
Colin Howden, director of Transform Scotland, said:
“Levenmouth is the overwhelming priority for rail reopening in Scotland over the next few years. It’s desperate that the 37,000 residents of Leven, Buckhaven and Methil, which includes some of the most economically-deprived areas of the country, has been cut off from the rail network since 1969.
“Allen Armstrong’s presentation is a good summary of the key arguments for reopening the line to passenger and freight traffic. We were also very pleased to hear at our event from Allan McLean, the new chair of the successful Campaign for Borders Rail, on how that line has already significantly over-performed passenger forecasts made for that service.”
